Last Week

So it was a long week.
Start off with work I guess. On Thursday we got told the network was going down and then there was a scare of power going down which it did to most of the plant but not to the administration offices. A water pipe burst onto an MCC. Very lucky no one got injured as that could have killed someone. It didn't happen in our plant but rather the plant next door but it used to all be one big plant so we still get our air, nitrogen, steam and power from them so it still stopped our production. Needless to say some folks were stressed out. I'm hoping when I go back Monday everything is back to tip top shape.

Thursday, I took Brielle over to a job to mow a lawn and we were out there into the dark and by the end I was out there too trying to help. It was tall and our batteries kept running out of juice for the string trimmer. We got it done though. The whole reason we did this is so she could earn money for Friday.

Friday, my best-friend Johanna went in to have her baby. It was only at 37 weeks but she has a condition ICP where after 37 weeks sudden loss of the baby becomes more a threat. So we welcomed Evelynn Jo to the world! I went down to the hospital after work. She's so gorgeous!

So also Friday, I took Brielle, her boyfriend, her boyfriend's sister who is a friend to both my girls and Katherine all downtown and dropped them off to go hangout at Friday after 5. They had a good time and ate pizza and ice cream and were there quite late into the evening.

Saturday, it was the 7th anniversary of the Ice Rink being open so they had a free session of ice skating. Free entrance and free skate rental so I took the kids to that but Brielle couldn't find her phone thankfully Katherine had her pay as you go phone. Unbeknownst to us until Sunday night this is when Brielle would lose her cellphone.

Sunday, the girls and I went to the Lincoln Boyhood Home National Memorial. It was the week of the National Park Service 100th Birthday so this weekend there was free entrance to National Parks.

We took about a 3 mile walk in total because we crossed over ourselves a lot on the paths.

We got there about 8am but we had to rush out about 12pm because at 1pm I had to have the kids and 3 of their friends all over to another friend of their's house for a pool party.

Yup, Sunday night we found out Brielle had lost her cellphone down town as she had just left it outside apparently. So now we are trying to figure out if we just cancel the phone and switch the number over to an old flip phone we have for her or really what we should do. She hasn't shown a lot of responsibility with her phone lately and we don't have a contract so purchasing a phone is much more expensive.
Peter and I were pretty upset but it is what it is I suppose. Though needless to say I wasn't this calm with her about the issue.

  • Friday my best friend or as she says my sister from another mister... She is going in for her C-Section. She has had a very rough pregnancy and has this genetic thing that after 37 weeks sudden loss of the baby becomes a much higher chance so she's just at that 37 mark, baby looks good so she is having her c-section Friday. I'll probably be going to the hospital after work.
Last Week

Okay so last week. Well last Monday like I said I had a lot of doctors appointments. I still don't know what is going on with my insurance and Kroger hasn't contacted me back since Wednesday about the investigation.
It was figured out I was banged up pretty good and they took x-rays but not seems broken. My knee is still giving me some fits but the bruising is down. I'm still not happy with how Kroger is handling this but it's where I shop and probably will continue to unless they really handle this poorly.

Okay happier stuff let's go over the last two weeks real quick.

Here is the quilt I made for one of my friends, Allison, who was due one day apart from my best friend Johanna. She's actually having a girl I know it looks boyish but the fabric was given to me by the ladies in the sewing group and are the scraps from all the crib sheets that she made for Allison.

Back on the 10th it was the first day of school for my girls. Katherine is now in 7th Grade and Brielle is now in 11th Grade. They grow up so fast.

So here is miss Katherine at Buffalo Wild Wings. Last Friday was her birthday! Big 12 years old! We went to B-dubs for dinner and let her get whatever she wanted which was a whole lot of chicken wings with some fried mushrooms on the side.
After B-dubs we went to Baskin Robins for Ice Cream where she found the most chocolate ice cream she could.

Saturday was her birthday party at the Ozone. Which had a list of complaints this year sadly but I messaged the company so hopefully they will look into it. We've had many great years there so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Katherine didn't draw her cake decoration though I think she could have but I kept forgetting about the cake last week so we found a coloring sheet and she colored it in and they printed it on the cake. I think it actually came out pretty awesome.

That's stuff in a nutshell. Oh we tried a new recipe after making it while it was very simple I decided it was nothing more than beef stew over egg noodles. It went over about as well as Beef stew does aka I eat the majority of it but no one complained. I had used the crock pot last week because we were suppose to have 4-H but where we were suppose to go got flooded so it was canceled for this month. Had some other appointments this past week that I was all ready for and then got phone calls to reschedule them. It was just kind of a messed up week. Peter has been working 11 hour days and worked this past weekend on another job. I've been busy between work, kids, dealing with the schools and then all these baby showers and stuff. I'm ready for a little bit of down time.

Busy Monday, August 15

No normal Monday post. This Monday got very messed up as I went slip and sliding through Kroger on Sunday and landed pretty hard. I've been dealing with insurance companies and with Kroger just trying to write this off with a $25 gift card which I guess I should have taken because it looks like it's going to be cheaper and less hassle to just use the accidental personal insurance I have. I also spent the day at the chiropractor because I didn't think it was anything too major but I was out of alignment to be sure. We did x-rays and adjustments and the electric shock thingy where they buzz you to get deep tissue to relax. I do feel better after all that not 100% I'm still a bit sore and banged up but it's nothing too horrific though did find on my x-rays I have gallstones again pretty good sized ones too so I have to start working on that going to try just herbal supplements before going to the olive oil and Epson salt route which is horrible but works. I can't let it go too far though otherwise I'll end up in the hospital.  Funny thing is my gallbladder didn't start bugging me until all this so either something has moved or irritated it to where the stones are now in an arrangement to give me little uncomfortable cramps now and again.

Anyways, that was my Monday. Sorry for no normal post but it has been a heck of a day.

Last Week

During the week we were doing a ton of yard clean up and tried to hit the house a little but the big thing was the yards for Saturday's Back To School Bash aka Potluck BBQ. We wanted the kids to be out doors but even though we were sprayed for mosquitoes people still got ate up along with biting flies. I felt really embarrassed about that because we really were trying. The evening once the sun went down wasn't as bad. We put on a couple outdoor movies with the projector and I think for the most part everyone had a great time.

The girls got registered for school and I paid the school fees. Yes, we have fees for just registering at our public schools. The Middle School was $35 and the High School was $220. Did I mention you don't know what the fees are going to be until you show up? Needless to say I was pretty stressed out with the High School fees.

Brielle is in Engineering Courses again so it will be an additional $416 plus driver's ed which is required by state will be $25 this school year. But she is in that and has her Orchestra but she had to drop Spanish which she was sad about. Oh and math she is in Pre-Cal I don't think I can help her out too much at this point.

Katherine got both Band and Chorus all year long so we are going to be very busy with that and pretty normal classes though Math she will be in pre-algebra which is pretty good for a 7th grader in my opinion.

I'm hoping for a good year.

Last Week

So my husband and I got a few walks in last week. Not as many as we probably needed but at least we got out some. Mind you whatever gains we got were ruined by ice cream after but it's the thought that counts right?

This was a new recipe I tried. It was Balsamic Chicken and it was low sodium and low carb. It was alright not stellar but I could see us making it again.
I did a side of mixed rice and sauteed green beans.

So Saturday was my best friend's baby shower! Well baby shower of sorts we working for it painting a room that they were moving her 2 year old daughter into along with the new baby as soon as she gets here.
The old room her daughter was in had stairs to the attic so they kept her daughter in her crib but they are going to need to move her to her big girl bed so they needed to rearrange the house to put her into a safer room.
The room also had two big windows in it and there were always the grumblings from an early rising kiddo during the weekend when people finally had a chance to sleep or she'd wake up at 5:30 am when folks didn't need to be up until 6. My solution was blackout curtains but truthfully those can be expensive so as I was doing some running I decided to go into Goodwill and what did I find? Well 4 narrow panels of blackout curtains in plain white for $8! Winner! So I got to surprise her with that. While some of us ladies were painting the preggo ones and one other lady set upon painting polka dots on the curtain panels.

I also had decided I wanted to make a diaper cake but boy diapers are spendy and I knew she was going to get more at the shower her family was throwing so I just got a small pack and wrapped it around some blankets and hooded towels I had got at goodwill (I washed them of course). I bought some toys down at Meijers and I think it came out rather cute.

Wednesday through Saturday the County Fair was going on and the only day I had free was Friday. It rained a lot during that day Friday but I decided to take the kids out anyways. The tractor pull was canceled for that day so entrance was only $5 a person  and how our fair is set up once you purchase your way in all the rides and activities are free after that.
We also went and looked at the exhibits to see how the girls did. All blue ribbon entries and Katherine had one of her entries picked to go to state!

How ours is set up too if you enter something you earn money. So Brielle got $10 for entering 2 salsas and getting two blue ribbons for them. Katherine got $21 for entering 2 salsas and a painting and having one of her salsas make it to state.

All in all it was a great time and the kids had fun.

Oh and Saturday I tried a new recipe in the crock pot. Mixed reviews from us. It was suppose to be a Mediterranean Chicken and when I first started eating it I forgot to put the feta cheese on it which makes a world of difference just having a little bit of cheese crumbled on it. May or may
not make it again we haven't decided.
